Abraxus was at the temple practising his swordplay when a trio of initiates approached him. He nodded his assent to come nearer, and they asked, "Prophet, the Storm asks us to bring Chaos to Tharel. We are not sure how best to do this."
Abraxus nodded. "Each of you, go out and bring Chaos as you believe it is meant to be done. After one year, return to this temple, and tell me what you have discovered. I will tell you if you understand the tenet correctly."
The initiates departed.
One year later, the three initiates returned, wiser for their experience. The first of them approached Abraxus.
"I sought to bring Chaos to Tharel by challenging those people that had been a part of Order for too long. I brought them back to the fold of Chaos so that they could be reborn. Have I fulfilled the tenet?"
"Yes," said Abraxus, "that is how it is meant. In this way, we allow rebirth and prevent stagnation."
When he had said this, the other initiates look disappointed, so he asked the next, "What did you do to bring Chaos to Tharel?"
"Prophet, I interpreted the tenet to mean that I must challenge the way people think. I questioned the beliefs and assumptions of those around me, provoking them into new thoughts and new interpretations."
"Yes," said Abraxus, "that is how it is meant. In this way, we unclutter thought and allow new ideas to grow where once they could not."
When he had said this, the final initiate looked disappointed, so he asked him, "What did you do to follow the tenet?"
"I did not seek to bring people back to the fold of Chaos or change the way others think. Instead I focused on myself and sought to question my own thoughts and challenge my own beliefs and assumptions. I felt that by doing so I would be better suited to bring Chaos to Tharel."
"Yes," said Abraxus, "that is how it is meant. In this way, you understand Chaos and become it. Then all your actions shall be to the benefit of the Storm."
There are many Paths that bind the Storm, each of us chooses a unique one to follow. Some may seek to challenge others physically, some emotionally or intellectually and others to challenge themselves and each one walks the true Path.
