She felt like she was in a daze, watching her own body from a distance as she ventured within the walls of Naerlan briefly each time. It was bittersweet, the absences gnawed at her deeply. Memories beat at her mind with every step she took inside the city, a moment of laughter here, a glimpse of a smile there. She managed to nod and smile at the few familiar faces she came across, surely they couldn't see something was wrong? When the smile couldn't be forced further, she faded into the background once again and left, traveling a familiar path, her bared feet carefully finding the way even as her eyes clouded. She reached her cliffs upon the Dragon's Plateau before she started to breakdown.
First came the rage, raising her fists and screaming at the empty skies. She raged loudly, everything she could come up with she ranted and yelled, enough noise to scare every living creature away from the plateau. She paced around the edge of the cliffs until exhaustion struck and she fell to her knees and began to weep. Her tears streaked down her face as she knelt there, no surprise that the thunder boomed before a torrent of rain spilled down onto her huddled form. She wept through the storm until she couldn't weep anymore and only had rasping sobs escaping her. For her, there would be no peace until the past stopped haunting her every moment, and with that in mind, she fell asleep where she sat and drifted in her dreams.
She knew she was dreaming but could not summon up the effort to stop the inevitable. It was merely a dream, nothing was going to harm her, right? The whispering was louder than before, voices talking. She could make out familiar ones and several not so familiar and tried to move closer but it was if she was bound and could not move. Still she tried to hear what the voices were saying but while they grew louder in volume with every passing minute, the words remained foreign to her ears. The back of her neck prickled and she felt the presence behind her only a moment before feeling breath brushing against her skin. So, you have returned. We thought you might, you've not the courage to go forward, human. That is the only reason you continue to resist your future. She tried to find her voice but found it lacking as she could only glare in defiance as the whispers brushed against her senses. You would deny the truth even now? You do not even let the dead stay dead or rot in peace. A loud cackle of laughed thundered around her as she shuddered inwardly, glancing guilty down at the blackened bracer she wrote around her wrist. Yes. We know what you think and know what that means. You will join us and this nothingness will be your existence for eternity. That's what you want right? You want your memories gone, you want to forget those you loved, those you cared for, those who are gone with no explanations. Those holes in your heart are filled with loss and hopelessness.
